Naturally when answering calls to potential customers needing storage, the first question we often ask is, 'What size of a unit do you need?'. However, not every customer knows what they need or what will work best for them. Unless they have stored with us before, it's hard to picture their belongings in on one of our units.

While this should be a helpful guide for determining what size of unit to select, it is only a rough guide based on what we have seen customers use and what units we have filled based off past house removals.

These recommendations are for customers who aren’t needing extra space inside the unit to sort through their belongings (Packed floor to ceiling and from front to back).

What If I Run Out of Space?

If you find your unit isn’t big enough, you can easily upgrade to a larger one (subject to availability). Simply get in touch or give us a call.

Tips for picking the right unit

1. Make a quick inventory

Before booking, jot down what you plan to store. Include furniture, boxes, and any bulky or awkward items. This makes it much easier to estimate the space you’ll need.

2. Think about how you’ll pack the unit

Well-packed units can hold far more than you might expect. Stacking boxes, using shelving, and filling vertical space can make a big difference.

3. Allow space for access (if needed)

If you’ll need to access your belongings regularly, consider leaving a walkway inside the unit. In this case, it’s often worth going one size up.

4. Don’t forget future items

Are you likely to add more over time? If so, factor in a bit of extra space now to avoid needing to move later.

5. When in doubt, go slightly bigger

A unit that’s too small can quickly become frustrating. A little extra space gives you flexibility and makes organising your belongings much easier.

6. Ask for advice

If you’re unsure, just ask. We are happy to help based on what you’re storing and can recommend the most suitable option.

Now that you have a better idea of what size you might need, you can book your unit with confidence.

If you’re still unsure, don’t worry, we’re on hand to help you choose the right option
